MATTHEW
DICKENS continues to enjoy a longtime, sure fired, well-experienced
path in the Entertainment Industry. He has worked professionally
as Producer, Director, Choreographer, Actor, Singer/Songwriter,
Dancer and Recording Engineer. He founded JuneBug Productions
(JBP) in 2005, The music division of JBP is eMDee Music which
boasts an impressive song catalogue. His first feature film
as Writer/Producer/Director, The War Zone, is currently 'in
development' and a second script is underway. Feature film
credits include the upcoming Devil's Night, Confessions of
an Action Star, Dreamgirls, Rent, Their Eyes Were Watching
God, Sledge and Choreographer of The Aviator. He wrote and
produced A Wild Night at Kirby's, an original pilot for television
adapted from the stage version Sunday Night at Kirby's which
enjoyed a successful two year run in the NoHo Arts District
(CA).
In
Europe he worked extensively as Director/Choreographer on
24 to 28 camera televised stadium events. Productions include
Euro 2000 and the National Wedding Event 2002 for the future
King of the Netherlands (which featured over 1000 musicians,
300 dancers and top Dutch Recording Artists). Other work includes
Direction and Choreography for the critically acclaimed Royal
Netherlands Air Force Orchestra. Productions with this Orchestra,
spanning six seasons, include a critically acclaimed staging
of The Who's Rock Opera Tommy, and original productions (which
he co-created )The Soul Show, Symfo 99, Going Dutch, Movietunes
and La Vie en Rose starring Liesbeth List which featured two
original songs by Dickens, 'Forgiven' and 'Love Will Find
a Way'.
Other
credits include working with the legendary Glen Campbell creating
a live version of the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour (television
variety show) in Branson, Missouri.
On
Broadway he was in the original company of Sunset Boulevard
starring Glenn Close. Other Broadway credits include the roles
of Chris and John in Miss Saigon, Smokey Joe's Café, Dreamgirls
and Stephen King's Carrie. He performed the role of John in
Miss Saigon, in Dutch, at the Circus Theater in Holland and
received rave reviews starring in Smokey Joe's Café Australia.
He performed with Phylicia Rashad opening for Bill Cosby at
the Las Vegas Hilton.
Dickens
early training as an Actor comes from the Duke Ellington School
of the Arts in DC. He was mentored by the late founder, Director/Choreographer/Educator
Mike Malone. He also trained and performed as part of the
Equity Theater Company at Karamu House in Cleveland, Ohio
with Mike Malone. Television appearances include Lackawanna
Blues, The West Wing, Quantum Leap, A Different World, In
Living Color, Fame, Disney's Polly, Polly One Mo' Time, the
Academy Awards, and several national commercials.
